This Amazing Japanese Invention Is Perfect For Cold Days

When the cold and chilly weather kicks in, instead of enjoying the outside world, we usually choose to enjoy the warmth of our home. Snuggling in a cozy blanket, watching a movie, a TV show or reading a book is all we want to do. And sometimes we could enjoy this activity all day long, right? Well, the Japanese brought this feeling to another level by inventing an awesome table covered with a blanket.

Kotatsu is a low wooden table frame covered by a heavy blanket. Underneath is an electric heat source often built into the table itself. These amazing devices are nowadays used worldwide; like in Spain, Portugal, Iran and in many more countries.

Kotatsu is a 7-centuries-old invention that used charcoal as the primary heating method. Today, the table isn’t only made of wood, but from other materials as well, such as plastic. Kotatsu can be used for naps, however, overnight sleeping can be dangerous. The table is low, so touching the heating elements can cause major burn injuries.
